Take Care Health and Cisco Team Up for Long Distance Care

Take Care Health System took over the management of the Cisco San Jose on-site clinic earlier this year, but the latest news is that the two industry giants (Take Care in clinic management and Cisco in technology) combined their respective strengths and now the providers at the San Jose site will be “seeing” patients at the Cisco North Carolina locations.  Using Cisco HealthPresence technology, employees in North Carolina with acute health care problems (colds, flu, etc.) can be seen by a physician in San Jose, same day.   Nirmal Patel, M.D., the director of Corporate Medical Programs for Cisco said “By combining Cisco technology solutions with Take Care Health’s market presence, we believe we are helping to redefine how health services are delivered.”  No kidding!

Also noted in this announcement were stats pulled from the latest Towers Watson and NBGH study which showed that 23% of companies already offer an on-site service for their employees and 12% more plan to offer them in the coming year.  If my math is correct, the data are accurate, and those 12% follow-through, this means that 35% of employers will be involved in some way with an on-site clinic by the end of 2012.
