Choosing Wisely Update

We have posted articles on the Choosing Wisely campaign in the past. This article will give you a link to the latest additions to the lists of tests and treatments which various specialty medical societies have added to the work previously done to help patients and physicians make treatment decisions using the latest, evidence-based data.

These guidelines are not only helpful to practicing physicians everywhere (including in your on-site clinics), but we feel they are particularly beneficial for your employees and their dependents to use when considering treatment and diagnostic options.  One example of a new guideline, “don’t schedule elective, nonmedically indicated induction of labor or cesarean deliveries before 39 weeks and zero days of gestational age.”  This is but one decision-making circumstance where patient requests may have a major influence.  Unfortunately, those patients may not have all the facts.  The Choosing Wisely web site gives us all one place where up-to-date information, in terms which patients can understand, is readily and easily available to guide those physician:patient discussions.
