Exercise vs. Lipids? vs. Glycemic drugs? Who wins?

Quad WelllnessYou’ll be surprised!  Pharmaceutical costs high?   Exercise compliance low?  Well, this study demonstrated that the value of exercise in reducing risk of death in people with chronic disease was as good, and sometimes better, than all those medications we see advertised on our televisions every night.

A study by Dr. John Iannidis (director of the Stanford Prevention Research Center at Stanford University School of Medicine) and Huseyin Naci (a graduate student at the London School of Economics and Political Science) published in the British Medical Journal  (October, 2013 issue) reviewing 365 past experiments in a meta analysis “consistently showed that drugs and exercise produced almost exactly the same results.”  (NY Times blog post 12/11/2013).

It’s time to “double-down” on your wellness incentives, education, and exercise options at work.  Productivity in America continues to climb; so, maybe the coffee break could be replaced with an exercise break?
