Healthcare Systems Continue to Jump In

A recent article on HealthLeaders Media (written by Christopher Cheney), states that “Providing on-site and near-site health services for large employers. . . presents a golden growth opportunity for some health systems.”

The article itself uses Bellin Health System as an example of one such system, pointing out that they really started offering the services as a result of the crisis they faced themselves with exploding healthcare premiums (to increase a whopping 30% in the early 2000’s).  As a result, they initiated strong measures and services with their own employees (of which they have 3,650) apparently allowing them to save more than $23 million in the last 12 years.

What a great marketing opportunity!  You have your own results that are well-documented, and you can now go out and offer services to others using your data.  With Bellin that started with their own Board members who were businessmen and women in the community impressed by the results of the system they were responsible for operating.  Bellin is now providing on-site services to more than 125 companies (not all of these include full primary care on-site clinics).  And, many more health systems have jumped in.  Other established vendors in the on-site field are facing strong, local competition.
