Cerner is best known as a major provider of healthcare IT services to hospitals and health systems.  It has developed the concept of the Healthe Clinic, the mission of which is to “coordinate the resources, deliver the knowledge, and connect the individual, family, and clinicians at the appropriate time and location to achieve the optimal health outcomes”.  It first initiated services for its own employee base in Kansas City and is now transferring what it has learned to other large employers.  It is well capitalized and well positioned to expand, especially in healthcare institutions.  As one might judge from the base product, it has a very robust medical record and IT base.  The clinic at its operation in Kansas City is a “best in class” facility by any standard.  It will respond to RFPs on a selective basis and prices services on an individualized basis to client needs, always including its ambulatory EMR system.  NOTE:  Cerner recently acquired IMC which is also listed in this section as a vendor.
