Retail clinic v. On-site? Where will the growth be?
In an article in Workforce Management, experts are saying that on-site clinics are taking the lead, with only 1% of employers having on-site health clinics in 2008 (two short years ago) but 10% in 2009 – dramatic growth. Even Walgreen’s (with all of its retail sites) has recognized the potential and acquired Take Care Health Systems, CHD Meridian Healthcare and Whole Health Management as a part of its strategy “. . to make an entrance into the health and wellness space.” (Per Walgreen’s company spokesperson, Gabriel Weissman)
“The next evolution is going to be measuring the success of these things,” per Marne Bell, a consultant with Towers Watson. From what we have seen, the studies are being done (check out our research tab) and are showing documented, positive financial ROIs and improved health for employees and their dependents.
