Harrah’s Hits 5-Year Mark with On-Site Clinics
Harrah’s Entertainment has been working with Take Care Health Systems to provide on-site health and wellness centers for its employees and their dependents for five years now. During that time, they have expanded the scope of services, the number of sites at which they provide services, and the space – all-in-all, a huge success. The clinics operate unique hours in order to serve the 24/7 schedules their employees fill. And over the course of this period, they have developed unique services – something which is easily accommodated in an on-site service but much more difficult to do in a traditional healthcare setting; for example, a thriving, customized, orthotic service and heavy-duty physical therapy for all those problems created when your employees spend such a huge amount of time on their feet each shift.
Some statistics: In 2007 Harrah’s had 46.6% of their employees suffering from hypertension, that is down to 31.6% (a full 15% decline). What about obesity – a huge problem today, right? Well, in 2007 48.3% of their employees had a weight problem and that is down to 39.9% now, a nearly 10-point decline. Their first clinic was seeing 26 patients/day initially and that number is up to 65/day now.
