Resources
Over the last few days we have come across more than one good resource for the medical directors in your on-site clinics. Instead of posting several “articles,” we felt we could mention them in a linear fashion here. We feel they are all helpful but at a high level because they focus on things like evidence-based medicine; patient-centered medical home information; quality measures; and the like. So, here you go:
The ECRI Institute launched two, redesigned Web sites earlier this week. They were the AHRQ National Guideline Clearinghouse (www.guideline.gov) and the National Quality Measures Clearinghouse (www.qualitymeasures.ahrq.gov). These two Web sites have both been available for awhile, but this recent update will apparently dramatically improve each site’s ease of use with greatly improved search functionality. If you are looking for data and information on evidence-based, clinical guidelines and quality measurement tools, try these sites.
The Center for Outcomes and Evidence is a link on the AHRQ Web site, as well. This link (www.ahrq.gov/about/coe) will get you to the mission statement for the Center – with a heavy emphasis on research, measurement, data collection and analysis on cost-effective, quality-driven health care practices, technology, and processes.
And, finally, take a look at a new White Paper published that is based on research done by Mathematica on “Engaging Patients and Families in the Medical Home.” This paper explores ways in which you can achieve greater participation by patients and their dependents in the use of the patient- centered medical home option and much more.
