City of West Palm Beach Considering On-Site Clinic
CareHere, First Onsite , and a local medical group are all in the running for a contract to manage an on-site clinic for West Palm Beach city employees. The RFP apparently went out about a year ago. As mentioned in some of our earlier posts, municipalities in Florida are actively pursuing on-site clinics as a means of promoting health for their employees and reducing healthcare costs. The acceptance in Florida overall appears high.
We were unable to find any information on the Web about Treasure Coast Medical Associates. It is possible that they are urgent care providers locally, or a local medical group. One of the City Commissioners voiced concerns about paying a management fee for the clinic and another wanted to include local hospitals in the RFP process. One would hope that other governmental units with on-site clinics will help them sort out these issues and better understand the value of a highly-qualified and experienced vendor, such as either First Onsite or CareHere, before they make a final decision, which is hoped for by the end of this year.
