Walmart Uses Exclusive Contracting with Mayo

We have spoken of Centers of Excellence in the past, now Walmart is taking the concept very seriously with a contract they have executed with several top-notch providers (including the Geisinger Clinic, Mayo and the Cleveland Clinic) .  The agreement will offer surgery (heart, spine and transplant) at no cost to employees.  This is also available to dependents – and is exclusive to those who enroll in the company’s health insurance program.  With more than 1.4 million employees, the total number of people who could have access to the program could easily reach 3.0 million.

This is part of an on-going trend large employers are using to assure high quality outcomes and reduce costs overall.
