More About Pricing Transparency
It has been reported that two Representatives from Texas (a rare effort by a Democrat and a Republican collaborating these days) recently introduced a bill into the House (HR 1326) that would require “States to establish laws mandating that hospitals publicly disclose the cost of various services.” Even the American Hospital Association has indicated their support for it. Who would have guessed it? Maybe there is hope that sometime in the next few years, we can all figure out what a specific healthcare service is going to cost us before we actually get it.
Recent articles (reported in this newsletter) have reflected on pricing and the new consumer demands for clarity and access to price information. This is clearly one of those learning moments that we all read about.
