Integrating Behavioral Health with Primary Care

We have, in the past, written about programs where primary care offices are truly integrating behavioral health in their services, with good success.  However, in a recent Medical Economics article (05/10/2014 issue, p24) there is a listing of various programs which offer strategies for doing this which are evidence-based.  We thought we might list them here with a link for each to their web site.  Three of these were started and operate specifically in the states of California, North Carolina and Massachusetts – the Integrated Behavioral Health Project (California), the ICare Partnership (North Carolina) and Partners in Integrated Care through the Massachusetts Health Quality Partners; one is a corporation specializing in the implementation and management of behavioral health services in established practices (Diamond Healthcare Corporation); and one is affiliated with a university (University of Washing, Collaborative Care/IMPACT ).

We have no specific, direct knowledge of any of these programs, and one is a vendor whom we have not vetted.  However, we did feel that with the significant costs associated with conditions like depression and drug/alcohol dependency, you might find the web sites helpful if you are contemplating including behavioral health services in your own on-site clinic.
