FAIR Health Cost Lookup Tool

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality announced this spring that it is designating FAIR Health’s Cost Lookup Tool one of its QualityTools.  We have also added it to our list of Featured Resources in the right side bar of our home screen.  This service allows a consumer to look up a service (by CPT code, with a resource for the consumer to describe the service and obtain the corresponding CPT code on the site), enter their own zip code, and get an estimate for the total cost.  You can also manipulate the estimate to get their own out-of-pocket costs based on your understanding of your individual insurance coverage (if you wish).

The site also has links to individual state health services (like the department of health), and resources to allow consumers to better understand insurance appeals (and gain assistance), condition-specific information and many other aids not the least of which is their FH Reimbursement 101 page with tons of info on a variety of reimbursement questions and answers.
